Contemporary Classic Casita

This casita, built in 1970 by a German Design & Builder, was in need of a facelift by 2018. The casita had poor ventilation with no cooling, a lack of light, worn surfaces, and outdated walls, electrical, textures, and colors. To bring the casita up to the same level of quality and design standards of the main house, Sexton F|D|B remodeled the bathroom and added all new electrical, ventilation, colors, and Hansgrohe fixtures with a custom vanity.

We also designed and installed a new walk-in shower while using the original slab, removed all the windows in the casita and replaced them with custom-sized windows and detailed trim, salvaged the original parquet floor and restored and glazed it, refaced and refinished all of the built-in surfaces, and resurfaced the walls. The client also designed a prototype barn & pocket door hybrid for the bathroom that Sexton F|D|B designed and built, creating a custom one-off sliding door that is functional yet beautiful.

Whole Home Remodel

This 1970's condo hadn't been touched since the original owners purchased it. Our client inherited the property, which was her childhood home, and wanted to fully remodel it to reflect a contemporary, spanish/mexican style. We coordinated all of the design down to the details of door stops and finishes with our long-distance client. We fully opened the kitchen, changed the design of the fireplace, replaced all of the floors, doors and windows, and fully remodeled each bathroom. Mexican tiles were shipped from a talavera store in Mexico and beams and the wrought iron railing were handmade on site. Not a single spot was left untouched. â€‹
